The Animal Shelter Charitable Trust

For the last 15+ years we have operated on land given to us on a pepper-corn rental, but all good things come to an end. So, thanks to the generosity of the late Isabel King in her will, we have bought a property at Whakapirau Road close to Maungatoroto. With winter almost on us we will not have the move underway until about October 2012, but it’s starting to happen! We have to relocate the three buildings we already own on the present site, so it’s going to be disruptive and expensive, but we will do it. The Shelter will have it’s very own home. We’ll update you when this gets underway.

 

The Animal Shelter Charitable Trust

The prime objectives of The Animal Shelter Charitable Trust are to provide hope, love and dignity to animals in our care. To provide the basic necessities for animals that have been abandoned or ill- treated. We also take care of animals whose owners can no longer care for them.

These unfortunate animals are brought into the Shelter, given veterinary treatment and gradually rehabilitated. Some may spend up to eighteen months or more at the Shelter. They are nursed back to health, fed and cared for, most importantly, shown love and trust. In turn, they learn to love and trust again and become re-homeable.
